ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Head softball coach, Casey Cromwell, announced the hiring of Veronica "Roni" Knittig to the coaching staff.
"Roni is passionate about coaching and the game in general," said Cromwell. "She has an energy that is contagious and a positive yet, competitive attitude that will be great to have on campus and within our program. Defense is something she's extremely comfortable working with and knows the game from many positions as she's played various infield positions in her playing career at Fort Hays State."
She added, "Roni is eager to get her coaching career started and with being relatively local to St. Louis, I think she'll be a great recruiter for Fontbonne in the years to come.
The Barnhart, Mo., native, appeared in 182 games at Fort Hays State. She finished her career with a .252 clip, 94 hits, 44 runs scored, 16 doubles, eight homers and 46 RBI. Her breakout season was in 2017 where she posted a .288 average, 46 hits, 19 runs scored, 11 doubles, four homers and 26 RBI.
Over the years Roni has come back to St. Louis to help out with Seckman High School and her select team, the St. Louis Espirit. She also helps with the 14U Tribe.
