Griffins Bats Held Quiet Against Panthers
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Fontbonne University softball team dropped a couple of tough outings on Wednesday afternoon as the Griffins fell 8-0 (5 inn.) and 10-0 (5 inn.) against Birmingham Southern.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Fontbonne University softball team dropped a couple of tough outings on Wednesday afternoon as the Griffins fell 8-0 (5 inn.) and 10-0 (5 inn.) against Birmingham Southern.

How It Happened
In game one, the Panthers wasted no time getting on the board as Savannah Lee blasted a 3-run shot to center to give them the early lead. Alyssa Fowler went on to add an RBI single to extend the advantage out to 4-0 after one.
After BSC added another run in the second, the Griffins threatened in the third. Alyssa Pisarek walked and after stealing second, she moved up a base on Grace Harlin's single.
Emelia Modglin went on to load them up after she was hit-by-pitch with two outs. However, the Panthers got out of the inning on a strikeout to keep it 5-0.
From there, the Panthers plated two more in the fourth and another in the fifth to spark the mercy-rule in the 8-0 win.
Fontbonne Notables
- Lexi Becker got the ball for the first time this year and she went 4.0 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits.
- Harlin led at the plate with two hits.
Birmingham Southern Notables
- Haley Crumpton got the win on the rubber after striking out 10 in 5.0 innings of work.
- Lee had a day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a run scored and five RBI.

Final: Birmingham Southern 10, Fontbonne 0

How It Happened
After a scoreless first, the Panthers got RBI doubles from Annie Clayton and Ella Day in the second to grab the 2-0 lead. The team scored four more in the third and four in the fourth en route to the 10-0 win.
Fontbonne Notables
- Diamond Thomas suffered the loss inside the circle after allowing six runs (two earned) and striking out a season-high six.
- Abby Richmond also saw action for the first time this year. She struck out two and allowed four runs in one inning of work.
- Emily Cardwell had the lone hit for Fontbonne.
Birmingham Southern Notables
- Jessica Perley earned her first on the season after striking out five in 4.0 innings pitched.
- Clayton led at the dish going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.
