How It Happened
The Pride opened with a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and stretched it out to 4-0 in the bottom of the second on an RBI double from Ellery Rasmussen.
However, it was Fontbonne the rest of the way. In the top of the fourth, the comeback started with Gracie Morris getting the team on the board with an RBI double that plated Lauren Proehl, who led off being hit-by-pitch.
In the top of the fifth, the team cut the deficit down to one plating two runs on three hits capped off by Hannah Miener's RBI double. In the sixth, Patience Vandermeirden reached base on an error. After a couple of strikeouts, Daisy Watkins stepped in and came through with a double to left center, scoring Vandermeirden to tie it up.
After a scoreless seventh, it was off to extra innings. With two on and nobody out, Skylar Freeman hit a sacrifice fly out to right which brought home Vandermierden.
From there, the offense couldn't be slowed down with Lilly Jones, Lauren Proehl, Miener (three), Morris, and Lexi Becker each tallying at least one RBI in the eight-run on seven hit inning for Fontbonne. Becker closed the door on the Pride in the home half for the victory.
