Game One
Final: Widener 6, Fontbonne 3

Records: Widener 3-0, Fontbonne 3-6
How It Happened
In the top of the second, the Pride grabbed a 1-0 lead on a throwing error by Fontbonne. It remained a one score game up until the top of the fifth.
Two walks and a hit-by-pitch gave the Pride the bases loaded for Ariel Silva. She was walked and that brought home pinch-runner Bri Milz to make it 2-0. Lindsey Cooper followed with a two RBI single to extend the advantage out to 4-0.
Widener tacked on two more runs in the inning to lead by six. In the seventh, though the Griffins kept battling. Patience Vandermeirden walked and Lexi Becker singled to put two runners on and nobody out.
After a lineout, Lilly Jones brought Vandermeirden home with an RBI single. The line kept moving with Grace Harlin's single bringing home Becker to trim the deficit down to 6-2. Hannah Miener continued to swing a hot bat with an RBI single of her own and now it was a 6-3 outing. However, that'd be as close as they'd get with the Pride closing the door on the comeback attempt.
Widener Notables
- Starter Kait Jaworski led inside the circle going 6.0 innings and striking out four.
- Cooper led at the plate going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Fontbonne Notables
- Miener went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Becker and Jones added two hits each.
- Skyler Freeman took the loss after going 4.2 innings, allowing four runs and striking out one.
Game Two
Final: Adrian 6, Fontbonne 4

Records: Adrian 5-1, Fontbonne 3-7
How It Happened
In the top of the first, Lilly Jones and Grace Harlin both led off with back-to-back singles. Meiner brought Jones home with an RBI single to give them a 1-0 lead. Lauren Proehl came up and grounded into a double play, however Harlin scored on the play to make it 2-0.
In the fifth, Lexi Becker led off with a single and moved up a base on Skylar Freeman's sacrifice bunt. Patience Vandermeirden came up and ripped a double to left to plate Becker. Vandermeirden went on to score on an error and now Fontbonne was on top, 4-0.
However, in the bottom of the fifth, the Bulldogs grabbed the lead plating five runs on four hits capped off by Alaina Macksoud two RBI single. Adrian added another run in the sixth to gain some breathing room, 6-4.
The Griffins had the tying run on and the game-winning at the plate in the seventh but starter Loren Vail retired the final batter to hang on for the two-run win.
Fontbonne Notables
- Vandermeirden and Daisy Watkins each had two hits.
- Jones, Harlin, Miener, Proehl, and Becker had one apiece.
Adrian Notables
- Loren Vail got the win after tossing a complete game eight hitter and striking out three.
- Leadoff hitter Jamie Bell went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
- Katie Connolly and Macksoud tied with two RBI.
Up Next
The Griffins will now have the next two days off and return to the diamond on Friday at 9 a.m., against Northwestern (Minn.) followed by Houghton at 12:15 p.m., to close out the Florida trip.
