Errors Prove Costly In Griffins Loss Against Storm

How It Happened
After the Storm grabbed the lead in the first, the Griffins answered in the bottom of the second. Abby Richmond led off with a single and she later scored on Patience Vandermeriden's RBI shot to center.
In the fifth, though the Storm capitalized on a couple Fontbonne errors allowing them to score three runs on four hits to take the 4-1 lead.
The Griffins got one of those runs back in the bottom half with Lilly Jones leading off with a double and Grace Harlin trading places with her to trim the deficit down to 4-2. The Griffins brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh but the comeback was not to be with Simpson hanging on for the win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Harlin reached base three times with a hit and two walks.
- Madison Galczyski, Grace Paez, Richmond, Jones and Vandermeirden had one hit each.
- Richmond took the loss inside the circle allowing four runs (zero earned) and sitting down two in 5.0 innings of work.
- Lexi Becker tossed 2.0 innings of shutout ball.
Up Next
The team returns to action tomorrow when they'll take on Chicago at 3 p.m., followed by Illinois College at 5.
