Fontbonne Softball Picks Up Split Against Rose-Hulman

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University softball team came away with a split on Saturday against Rose-Hulman as they dropped game one 3-2 but bounced back with a 6-3 victory in the finale.

Rose-Hulman 3, Fontbonne 2

How It Happened

The Griffins got on the board in the first with Lilly Jones reaching base on a one out double. She was able to score on Grace Paez RBI single to give them a 1-0 lead.

They added to its lead in the third with Lexi Becker earning an RBI groundout which brought home Patience Vandermierden, who led the inning off with a double.

However, the Fightin Engineers added a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh for the come-from-behind one-run victory.

Fontbonne Leaders

• Grace Paez led at the plate going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
• Abby Richmond and Vandermierden added a hit each.
• Skylar Freeman had the no-decision allowing one run in 5.2 innings of work.

Gm2 Final:

Fontbonne 6, Rose-Hulman 3

How It Happened

The Griffins jumped on the board in the third with Becker and Paez each tallying an RBI. In the fifth, the Griffins made it 3-0 on an RBI single from Abby Richmond.

In the sixth, the Griffins scored three runs on two hits, helped out by three Rose-Hulman errors en route to the 6-3 win.

Fontbonne Leaders

• Abby Richmond picked up her second win on the year after striking out four in her complete game outing.
• Paez extended her hitting streak out to 10 going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
• Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
• Becker, Richmond, and Harlin had a hit and RBI each.
