Fontbonne Softball Sweeps Eureka, Morris Tallies Two Homers and Career-High Eight RBI In Game Two

How It Happened
It was a scoreless game up until the top of the fourth when the Griffins had two on and one out. Abby Richmond stepped up with a double to right plating Grace Paez and Madison Galczynski for the 2-0 lead.
The Griffins added another run in the sixth to make it a 3-0 game. The Red Devils threatened in the seventh plating one run but starter Abby Richmond escaped the jam with the tying run at the plate for the two-run victory.

- Gracie Morris, Galzynski, and Richmond had one hit each.
- Richmond led with two RBI.
- Inside the circle, Richmond improved to 4-4 going the distance allowing zero earned runs and striking out one.

How It Happened
In game two, the Griffins bats took over. Trailing 3-1 after one inning of play, the Griffins got a run in the second off the bat of the reigning SLIAC Player of the Week, Patience Vandermierden, who's RBI double scored Hannah Miener trimming the deficit down to 3-2.
In the third, the Griffins scored three runs on four hits highlighted by Gracie Morris' two-run shot for the 5-3 lead. Eureka answered with three runs of its own in the bottom half gaining the advantage back, 6-5.
In the fourth, after an RBI groundout from Lilly Jones to tie the game, the Griffins got another home run from Morris, this one a 3-run shot, giving them a 9-6 lead.
In the sixth, the Griffins put the game away scoring five runs on seven hits with Morris and Mackenzie Williams each picking up two RBI, while Vandermierden added another RBI double for the eight-run mercy rule win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Morris had her first multi-homerun game hitting number three and four on the year. She finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a Fontbonne single-game record eight RBI which places her second all-time in the SLIAC.
- Lexi Becker earned her fifth three hit game on the season going 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
- Miener, Vandermierden, and Grace Harlin each totaled two hits in the 7-8-9 slots in the order.
- Mackenzie Williams finished 1-for-4 with a run scored and a career-high two RBI.
- Lilly Jones finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.
- Paez tacked on one RBI.
- Michaela Mason got the win in relief going one inning and striking out two.
