Softball Splits with Spalding on Senior Day
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team split with Spalding University in today’s SLIAC contest. The team moves to 21-15 on the season and 12-4 in conference play.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team split with Spalding University in today's SLIAC contest. The team moves to 21-15 on the season and 12-4 in conference play.
Game One
Fontbonne took game one against Spalding, 5-4.
Spalding scored the first two with a homer to take the lead of the game, on top of the first.
Alysa Ibarra hit a double to left field bringing home Ashley Carrow.
Patience Vandermierden hit a triple to center field scoring Alyssa Ibarra to tie the game 2-2.
Grace Paez hit a sac fly to left field bringing home Makenzie Howell.
Lilly Jones hit a two RBI double to right field to score Brenna Foley and Madelyn Holtmeyer to increase the Griffins' lead to 5-2.
Spalding scored two more but were unable to comeback.
Hailey Kutz pitched the complete game. She took the win after striking out 11 while allowing five hits and four runs.
Game Two
Fontbonne fell to Spalding, 5-3.
Grace Paez hit a sac fly to bring home Lilly Jones.
Ashley Carrow hit a single to center field to score Makenzie Howell.
Spalding scored five runs to take a 5-2 lead.
On the top of the seventh, Alyssa Ibarra hit a double to shortstop and Grace Paez advanced to third on an error by shortstop and then scored the final run of the day.
Kami Matthews (4-5) took the loss in the circle. She pitched 4.1 innings and struck out two while allowing seven hits and three runs. Sam Foppe pitched 1.1 inning. She struck out two while allowing four hits and two runs. Hailey Kutz pitched 1.1 inning. She struck out one while allowing one hit.
