Softball Concluded Season as SLIAC Championship Runner-Up

PEORIA, Ill. – The second-seeded Fontbonne University softball team are your 2023 St. Louis Collegiate Athletic Conference Runner-Up. The Griffins concluded the season with a 25-18 record on the season.
The Griffins blanked second-seeded Spalding 10-0 in game one and fell in game two, 9-1.
Game One:
By The Numbers
4 – Ashley Carrow drove in four runs.
3 – Carrow recorded three hits. Kassidy Chrisco drove in three runs.
2 – Makenzie Howell, Grace Paez, and Carrow each scored two runs. Ellie Bartlett had two hits and two RBIs. Paez recorded two hits.
1 – Allysa Ibarra, Bartlett, Brenna Foley, and Patience Vandermierden each scored one run.
How it Happened
On the top of the first, Ashley Carrow hit a two RBI double to center field to bring home Grace Paez and Makenzie Howell. Carrow scored on a wild pitch. Ellie Bartlett hit an RBI single to center field to score Ibarra. Kassidy Chrisco hit an RBI single to right field to bring home Bartlett and take the lead of the game 5-0.
On top of the second, Carrow hit an RBI double to right field to score Paez. Bartlett hit an RBI single to score Carrow.
Kassidy Chrisco hit a triple to right center to bring home Patience Vandermierden and Brenna Foley, on the top of the fourth, on top of the fourth.
Carrow hit an RBI single to center field to bring home Makenzie Howell and secure a 10-0 dominating victory for the Griffins advancing to the "if necessary" game.
Hailey Kutz (11-5) pitched the complete game and got the win. She struck out four and allowed two hits.
Game Two:
By The Numbers
2 – Lilly Jones and Allysa Ibarra each recorded two hits.
1 – Ibarra drove in one run. Jones scored one run.
How it Happened
On the top of the first, Ibarra hit a single to left center to bring home Jones to take an early lead of the game.
However, the Griffins were unable to score during the remained of the game as Spalding scored nine runs in a row to win the championship.
Kami Matthews took the loss in the circle. She pitched 1.0 innings and allowed four hits and four runs.
Hailey Kutz pitched 3.2 innings and allowed three hits and five runs.
