Softball Grabs First Win of 2024 Season
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Fontbonne University softball team earned two wins on today over Grinnell and Monmouth. The Griffins improve to 2-1 on the season.
"The pitching staff came out strong this weekend," shared Head Coach Roni Knittig. "I couldn't have asked for a better star from the rotation, our defense played strong behind their pitches. The hitters worked counts and came up with clutch hits in situations to help lead us to wins on Sunday. There is still room to grow but I am very excited for this group and this season."
Griffins defeated Monmouth, 2-1.
Team Highlights
Kassidy Chrisco had two hits and one run.
Karmen Daniels scored one run.
Abby Alonzo had two hits.
Allysa Ibarra and Ellie Bartlett had one hit.
Kami Matthews pitched the complete game in the circle and was credited with the win. She struck out eight while allowing six hits and one run.
Griffins defeated Grinnell, 3-1.
