ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team handed Webster their first conference loss after sweeping them. Then, the Griffins returned to action and split a doubleheader with NAIA opponent, Stephens College. The Griffins improve to 15-16 on the season and 9-1 in conference play.
The Griffins defeated Webster on game one, 5-2, then 7-4 on game two. Fontbonne fell to Stephens on game one, 3-2, and then won 6-3 on game two.
Game one vs. Webster
- Makenzie Howell added three hits.
- Allysa Ibarra and Ashley Carrow each had two hits.
- Grace Paez, Macy Brown, Karmen Daniels and Abby Alonzo each recorded one hit.
- Jillian Mengel's only hit was also a homerun.
- Howell, Paez, Mengel, Carrow, and Daniels each scored one run.
Hailey Kutz grabbed the win in the circle. She struck out 10 while allowing four hits and two runs.
Game two vs. Webster
- Carrow had three hits.
- Daniels added two hits.
- Ibarra, Howell, Paez, Mengel, and Alonzo each recorded one hit.
- Howell, Paez, Mengel, Carrow, Daniels, Alonzo, and Folely each scored one run.
Sam Foppe took the win in the circle after pitched 6.0 innings. She struck out three while allowing six hits and four runs. Kami Matthews pitched 1.0 inning and struck out one while allowing two hits.
Game one vs. Stephens
- Paez and Mengel each had one hit.
- Daniels went 2-for-2.
- Ibarra and Paez each scored one run.
Abby Alonzo had the loss in the circle. She pitched the complete game and struck out one while allowing six hits and three runs.
