ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team remains in the top of the SLIAC standings following a split with Greenville and a sweep over Westminster. The Griffins improve to 12-2 in conference play to remain in first place and 18-17 overall.
Game one:
The Griffins fell 4-0 to Greenville.
- Grace Paez and Brenna Foley were the only ones with one hit during the game.
Hailey Kutz pitched the complete game and took the loss in the circle. She struck out seven while allowing six hits and four runs.
Game two:
The Griffins earned an 1-0 win over Greenville.
- Allysa Ibarra, Paez, Jillian Mengel, and Foley each had one hit.
- Makenzie Howell recorded one hit and one run.
Sam Foppe was credited with the win in the circle. She struck out five while allowing six hits.
Game three:
The Griffins took a 2-1 win over Westminster.
- Ibarra and Mengel each had one hit and one run.
- Howell and Karmen Daniels each added one hit.
- Mengel also recorded two RBI.
Kutz had the win in the circle. She pitched the complete game and struck out eight while allowing five hits and one run.
Game four:
The Griffins took down Westminster, 15-2.
- Ibarra had two hits, one run and one RBI.
- Howell had three runs, three RBI and four hits.
- Paez had three hits, three RBI and one run.
- Ashley Carrow and Kassidy Chrisco each scored one run.
- Mengel recorded two hits, two RBI and one run.
- Kami Matthews had one hit, one run and one RBI.
- Daniels had one RBI, two runs and three hits.
- Madelyn Holtmeyer had one hit and one run.
- Ellie Bartlett added one hit.
- Foley had one hit and two runs.
- Abby Alonzo had one homer, one run and four RBI.
Matthews pitched the complete game and took the win. She struck out four while allowing three hits and two runs.
