Softball Earn Shutout Win in Game One, Comeback Attempt Falls Short in Game Two Against Webster

WEBSTER GROVES, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team started the doubleheader against Webster University hot as they earned an 8-0 win, out-hitting the Gorloks 13-4.
Ashley Carrow went 3-for-4, with one RBI and two runs.
Kassidy Chrisco, Grace Paez, Karmen Daniels and Sam Foppe each added two hits.
Chrisco, Macy Brown, Jillian Mengel, Brenna Foley, Daniels and Foppe each scored one run.
Chrisco, Brown, Foley, Foppe and Allysa Ibarra each drove in one run, while Paez drove in two.
The Griffins improve to 5-10 on the season and 2-2 in SLIAC play.
Foppe earned the win in the circle. She pitched a complete game, striking out seven and allowing four hits.
On game two, the Gorloks put up a 9-0 lead early in the first inning and although Fontbonne attempted a comeback, the Griffins fell short 11-10. The Griffins also out-hit Webster, 14-13.
Chrisco went 3-for-3, with one run.
Ibarra went 3-for-4, with two runs and one RBI.
Brown, Paez and Foley each added two hits
Foley, Daniels and Madelyn Holtmeyer each scored two runs.
Hannah Borgmeyer was credited with the loss in the circle. She pitched 0.1 inning and struck out one while allowing five hits and nine runs. Abby Alonzo came in next, pitched 5.2 innings. She struck out three while allowing eight hits and two runs.
