St. Louis, MO - The energy was absolutely electric at ABC field as the Griffins delivered a pair of commanding victories, sweeping their doubleheader in explosive fashion against the Eureka Red Devils.
Game One
In the opener, the Griffin's offense wasted no time setting the tone, piling on runs early and often to secure a 15-0 win in just five innings. The bats were on fire, with Grace Paez leading the way with 3 hits, while Sam Foppe was untouchable in the circle to keep the Red Devils completely off the board.
Kassidy Chrisco, Brenna Foley, Karmen Daniels, Ashley Carrow, and Abby Alonzo all tied with two runs apiece. Madelyn Holtmeyer and Jillian Mengel both had one run as well!
Between games the players and coaches from the 2023-2024 season were recognized for a banner ceremony.
Game Two
The momentum only grew in Game Two. Feeding off the roaring crowd and contagious dugout energy, the Fontbonne Griffins rolled to a 9-0 victory, again wrapping things up in five innings. Macy Brown sparked the offense with an advancement to third allowing Chrisco to steal home. On top of the incredible offense, the Griffin's defense stayed sharp and aggressive, locking down another shutout behind Holtmeyer's dominant performance in the circle.
"The team came out swinging to start the day. That momentum and energy helped carry us to two wins. Pitchers were excellent in the circle and defense worked well behind them," says head coach Roni Knittig.
The team will hit the road to play against the Greenville Panthers on Monday, April 28. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
