Griffins conclude historic indoor track season
Indoor season consisted of 34 broken records and 18 new school records.
Ada, Ohio - Fontbonne track and field concluded their indoor season this past weekend at the Polar Bear Last Chance Meet, hosted by Ohio Northern University. The event allowed the Griffins' top athletes to compete against some of the best Division III athletes in the country.
"The greatest thing that came out of this weekend was the experience our student-athletes, all who are freshman or sophomores, gained in a championship atmosphere", commented head coach Chris Buckler. "Every athlete competed near their personal best mark or time by the end of the contest."
As a team, the indoor teams broke 34 school records, established 18 new school records, two individual champions at the Principia Multis as well as a victory for the men's distance medley at Wisconsin-Parkside.
Buckler is excited for the outdoor season, "We are fortunate to have a lot to build on as we go into the outdoor season. We have a competitive schedule with two meets at Saint Louis University, one at neighboring Washington University, one at Southern Illinois – Edwardsville, and one at Miami University of Ohio."
It all builds up for the hopes of qualifying for the Last Chance Meet at North Central College and the NCAA National Championship hosted by Wartburg College.
"We will continue to work to set new standards for ourselves and build a national caliber track and field program that the students, staff, and alumni can take pride in."
