Gosser's improvement in the heptathalon is a new school record as was Venegas' performances in the shot put, discus throw and hammer throw. The two freshman combined for
Freshman Raven Venegas won the shot put while Lynsey Wehrenberg took home the javelin title in the inaugural SLIAC Track and Field Championships. Venegas was also named SLIAC Field Newcomer of the Year.
Due to the weather, the Championships are now scheduled for all-day Monday, May 1st.
Freshman Raven Venegas has garnered SLIAC Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this year after winning titles in the discus, hammer throw and shot put this past weekend at the MSJ Invitational.
Raven Venegas won the discus, hammer and shot put events while breaking her own hammer record. Austin Lawrence led the men's team with a third place finish in the javelin.
Freshman Sarah Rhoads, seen here running a leg of the 4x400, made the largest improvement on the team, running a 1:24 PR in the 5000m.
Fontbonne swept SLIAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the week of April 3rd when Austin Lawrence and Raven Venegas earned the awards for their performances at the Hanover Invitational.
The freshman powered to a second-place finish at the Montevallo Falcon Classic in the discus, destroying her old record by six meters. She currently leads all women's SLIAC throwers in the shot put and is 21st in NCAA Division III.
Freshman Raven Venegas broke women's volleyball Hall of Famer Nicole Moyer's discus and shot put records in her inaugural outdoor meet. Moyer's record stood from her freshman 2002 season.
