Griffins Suffer Fifth Straight Loss
St. Louis- Fontbonne women's basketball's fifth straight loss comes from Millikin University. Millikin overran Fontbonne 63-45 on Saturday. The Griffins fall to 3-6 this season.
With Fontbonne trailling by two (10-12) six minutes into the game, Millikin went on a 17-3 run to lead 29-13 with 6:32 left in the first half. Millikin led 41-26 heading into the locker room.
An evenly matched second half, ultimately gave Millikin the win. Overall, Fontbonne committed 27 turnovers with Millikin totaling 19. Millikin out-shot Fontbonne overall from the field by 10.6%. The Griffin's were ahead behind the arc and at the line. Millikin's 45 rebounds worked to their advantage as well. Fontbonne notched 33 total rebounds on the afternoon.
Olivia Hollander was the top-scoring Griffin with 10 points off the bench. Hollander also reeled in her team's high seven rebounds. This is the second time this season Hollander has scored 10 points. Saturday's rebounds were her second highest on the season.
Brittany Czaplicki totaled a game-high 11 points for Millikin and added seven rebounds. Alyssa Saklak added 10 points and six rebounds while Jasmine Johnson had the game-high 10 rebounds along with six points.
Fontbonne has a two week break, taking on St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Spalding University on Saturday, January 4th. Tipoff for the women's game is scheduled for 1pm Eastern time in Louisville, Ky.
