Greenville, Ill. - A rough second quarter, in which the Griffins scored just eight points, led to a 70-58 loss to Greenville College today. The Griffins suffer their second loss in a row and fall to 3-9 overall and 2-4 in conference.
After leading 20-14 after the first ten minutes of play, Fontbonne women's basketball scored only eight more points before heading into the locker room. The Griffins connected on two buckets and four free-throws. After making nine of 12 attempts in the first quarter, Fontbonne's two buckets came on 14 attempts in the second quarter. Greenville led 37-28 at halftime. Shooting woes continued in the second half with the Griffins going 10-of-34 in the field.
Leading the Griffins in scoring was senior Erika Kuhn with 11 points while Emmie Haring and Olivia Hollander notched 10 of their own. Haring also brought in four rebounds with four assists and three steals. Hollander scored five baskets on nine attempts with three rebounds while Kuhn shot 50% in the field and 75% at the charity stripe.
Fontbonne's next matchup will be at home against Eureka College on Wednesday, January 13 at 6 p.m.
