Louisville, Ky. - Three days after upsetting SLIAC fore-runner Iowa Wesleyan, Fontbonne women's basketball suffered a 94-62 loss at Spalding. The loss sends Fontbonne back to 6-6 in conference and propels Spalding to 7-5 in the SLIAC.
Six turnovers and a Fontbonne .294 shooting percentage in the first half allowed Spalding to lead by six at the first intermission. The Griffins followed with another low-accuracy shooting quarter as Spalding led 43-33 at halftime.
Spalding opened third quarter play with a 10-2 run when Fontbonne pulled their starters after three minutes, and they would sit for the rest of the game. The Griffin bench held their own in the fourth quarter as each team scored 19 points.
DeAmbra Pilkinton led Fontbonne with 10 points while Erika Kuhn and Olivia Hollander reigned in six rebounds apiece.
Fontbonne is on the road at Westminster Wednesday for a 6 p.m. contest.
