Elsah, Ill. - Fontbonne women's basketball snapped a six-game losing streak last night with a 58-47 win over Principia College. In just their second road win of the season, the Griffins led by two after three quarters and trailed 42-41 in the fourth before a 17-5 run sealed the win.
Fontbonne jumped out to a 14-8 lead before a 29-22 halftime advantage. Despite being out-rebounded 49-38, the Griffins sealed the win in the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run and closing the win with eight consecutive points.
Juniors DeAmbra Pilkinton and Emmie Haring led the Griffin offense while senior Erika Kuhn grabbed seven rebounds. Pilkinton scored the game-high 20 points, her sixth time scoring 20 or more points this season. Haring's six steals gave the Griffins momentum as she guided the offense with seven assists as she played all but three minutes in the game.
Fontbonne will honor their two seniors prior to Saturday's game at home against MacMurray at 1 p.m.
