Women's Basketball Comeback Effort Falls Short Against Lake Forest

Game Breakdown
The Griffins trailed 11-8 at the 5:40 mark of the first after Kya Harbour connected on a 3-pointer. Lake Forest, though closed out the quarter on a 12-3 run leading 23-12 after one.
After shooting 71.4 percent from the field in the first, the Foresters carried that momentum into the second stretching its lead out to 30-16 with 5:43 remaining on Katie Neher's layup.
The final five minutes of play the Foresters outscored Fontbonne 12-3 to take a 23-point lead into the break.
In the third quarter, the Griffins got its offense clicking going 11-of-19 from the field. A 10-2 run by Fontbonne in just three minutes and 20 seconds put them down 44-29 on Sam Foppe's layup.
The Griffins continued to chip away at the deficit and eventually got it down to 58-49 after both Jillian Venegas and Kya Harbour made consecutive free throws prior to the end of the third.
Rylee Pickett had a strong quarter going 3-of-5 from the field to lead with nine points. Harbour added eight and Jillian Venegas contributed six.
In the fourth, the Griffins got buckets Amaya Earls and Harbour trimming Lake Forest's lead down to five (58-53).
However, over the next five minutes the Foresters went on a 10-2 run giving them the 68-55 lead on Annie Lally's layup. They maintained its double-digit lead the rest of the way going on for the 12-point win.

- Fontbonne shot 38.6 percent from the floor went 11-of-14 (78.6 percent) from the charity-stripe.
- Defensively, the team pulled down 28 boards and came away with a season-high 12 steals.

- Kya Harbour led with a career-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
- Jillian Venegas finished with 12 points and a season-high nine boards.
- Rylee Pickett was the final player in double-figures with a season-high 11 points.
- Sam Foppe added a season-high eight points.
