Game Breakdown
The Griffins started out hot from downtown connecting on six 3-pointers giving them a commanding 19-5 lead with 2:41 remaining on Jillian Venegas' bucket. They remained in control the rest of the way leading 21-7 after one.
Fontbonne shot 37.5 percent from beyond-the-arc in the first and each player in the starting five made at least one 3-pointer. Kya Harbour led with two.
In the second quarter, the Griffins led 27-13 with 7:45 remaining on Rylee Stafford's 3-pointer. However, the Lady Patriots went on an 11-1 run over the next five minutes trimming the deficit to 28-24 on Katlynn Ellison's jumper.
Fontbonne answered in the final two minutes with a run of its own outscoring Baptist Bible 7-2 with Stafford's 4-point play putting Fontbonne ahead 35-26 at the break.
In the third quarter, the Griffins maintained its lead and stretched it out to 48-34 after Sam Foppe made both free throws. The Lady Patriots got it down to 52-44 on Kaitlyn King's layup, but prior to the quarter ending Kourtney White made her layup giving Fontbonne a 54-44 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Lady Patriots went on a 16-5 run in four minutes and 53 seconds time to take a 60-59 lead on Josie Sullivan's 3-pointer.
The Griffins tied the game at 62-62 on White's 3-pointer with 4:14 left, however, the Lady Patriots took the lead right back on the ensuing possession with Harley Maxwell sinking her jumper. Baptist Bible was able to hold onto its lead the rest of the way for the 68-64 win.
