Game Breakdown
Spalding held an early lead in the first but a bucket from Kourtney White put the Griffins down 8-7 at 3:02. The Golden Eagles led 12-7 with 16.0 seconds remaining, though prior to the quarter ending the Griffins got a 3-pointer from Rylee Stafford narrowing the deficit down to 12-10.
In the second quarter, the Griffins grabbed a 15-14 lead at 7:06 on Stafford's 3-pointer. The Golden Eagles answered with a jumper from Kamryn McMahon, however it was all Fontbonne till halftime closing out play on a 9-2 run leading 26-18 at the break.
Fontbonne shot 41.7 percent from the floor in the second, while the Golden Eagles continued its struggles going just 2-of-18 (11.1 percent).
In the third, the Griffins remained in control stretching its lead to 32-21 with 5:20 left on Sam Foppe's jumper. They held its double-digit lead the rest of the way leading 43-32 heading into the fourth.
After Spalding made it a 45-34 contest at 8:08, the Griffins put the game away over the next three minutes and change rattling off a 15-4 run leading 60-38 on White's layup.
The Griffins saved its best shooting performance for last going 13-of-18 (72.2 percent) and 6-of-10 (60.0 percent) from downtown en route to the 21-point win.
