Third Quarter Woes Prove Costly In Griffins Loss Against Webster

Game Breakdown
In the first quarter, the Griffins led 5-4 at the 5:43 mark on Rylee Stafford's 3-pointer. Webster retook the lead and held its advantage up until Stafford connected on both free throws with 46.0 seconds remaining giving Fontbonne a 15-14 lead.
The Gorloks answered with a bucket from Julie Baudendistel, but prior to the quarter ending Stafford drained her fourth 3-pointer of the quarter giving Fontbonne an 18-17 lead. Stafford had a dominating quarter going 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-5 from downtown for 16 points.
In the second quarter, the Griffins opened with an 11-3 run with Stafford's 3-pointer extending Fontbonne's lead out to 28-21.
The Griffins continued to hold onto its lead up until the Gorloks took a 34-33 lead with 2:23 remaining on Hannah Cottrell's two made free throws.
Fontbonne answered finishing out the final two minutes on a 9-5 run with Kourtney White's layup giving them a 42-39 advantage at the break.
It was another strong quarter offensively for Fontbonne going 7-of-13 from the field led by Stafford with 12 points putting her with 28 at the break.
In the third, the Griffins led 47-41 with 7:40 remaining on White's layup. From there, the Gorloks went on a 10-0 run in three minutes time taking a 51-47 lead on Naomi Johnson's layup.
Fontbonne was able to tie the game, 51-51, on Rylee Pickett going 1-of-2 from the line with 3:44 left. However, the Gorloks gained the necessary breathing room finishing out on a 10-3 run leading 61-54 going into the fourth.
The Griffins shot 40.0 percent from the floor, though turnovers proved costly with Fontbonne committing 14.
In the fourth, the Gorloks took a 75-62 lead on Addison Beussink's layup and held onto that double-digit for the 19-point victory.
