Stafford, White, Venegas, And Smith Earn SLIAC Postseason Awards
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams today and the Griffins had four honorees.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams today and the Griffins had four honorees.
Rylee Stafford was named to the First Team, while Kourtney White as named to the Second Team. Jillian Venegas earned Third Team honors and Lauren Smith was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Stafford, a Jackson, Mo., native, is back on the First Team for the second time in her career. She's had a memorable 2021-22 season where she's currently leading the SLIAC putting up a career-high 20.5 points per game and shooting 35.4 percent from beyond-the-arc.
This year alone, the senior guard has become the single-season leader at Fontbonne and in the SLIAC with 85 3-pointers made and career 3-pointers with 298.
She also set the Fontbonne program record with 348 career free throws made, became the single-season leader in total points with 491 and became the program leader with 1,744 career points.
White, a Hazelwood, Mo., native, earns her first SLIAC Second Team award after having a career year posting 16.4 points on a 59.6 field goal percentage and shot 37.8 percent from downtown.
She's also pulled down a career-high 9.0 rebounds per game. Her 233 rebounds this year alone places her fourth all-time in a single season at Fontbonne.
Venegas, a Racine, Wis., native, earns her first SLIAC All-Conference selection where she set new career-highs putting up 9.2 points per game on a 42.0 field goal percentage. She's also set new career-highs in total rebounds (191) and assists (84).
Smith is named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the first time after averaging 3.0 points per game this year and shooting 51.9 percent from the field.
