Women's Basketball Picked To Finish Fifth In SLIAC Preseason Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the Women’s Basketball Preseason Poll today and the Griffins come in at No. 5.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the Women's Basketball Preseason Poll today and the Griffins come in at No. 5.
The reigning SLIAC Tournament Champion Webster Gorloks hold the top spot with 46 points and five first-place votes.
They're followed by Westminster with 41 points and a first-place vote, while Greenville comes in third at 40 points and two first-place votes.
This year, the Griffins look to fill the shoes of departed senior Rylee Stafford. Coach Mike Fitzgerald brings back SLIAC All-Conference player Kourtney White who had a career-year in 2021-22.
The Hazelwood, Mo., native, averaged 16.4 points, shooting 59.6 percent from the floor, and 37.8 percent from beyond-the-arc. She also pulled down a career-best 9.0 rebounds per game.
Kya Harbour and Rylee Pickett are both return after averaging 8.1 and 7.9 points per game, respectively. Ja'mise Bailey, who missed last season due to injury, looks to make an impact in her first season on the court. Sam Foppe (4.9 ppg), Haley Buscher (4.4 ppg), and Amaya Earls (1.7 ppg) look to build off its numbers from last year as well.
Coach Fitzgerald will also turn to newcomers Madison Nelson, Khoamori Cornelius, Abby Coe, Whitney Gines, and Hallie Becker to have immediate roles this upcoming year.

The Griffins get its season underway on November 6th when they'll host Lake Forest. Tip-off at 1 p.m.
