ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's basketball team fell 97-56 against Millikin on Monday.
It was an up-tempo pace in the first quarter with Madison Nelson's 3-point play trimming the Big Blue deficit to 14-9 with 4:23 remaining. Millikin, though never relinquished its lead having a 25-20 advantage after one.
Fontbonne shot 50.0 percent from the floor in the first and went 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Nelson led all scorers with nine points.
The second quarter belonged to Millikin with the Big Blue shooting 66.7 percent from the floor allowing them to outscore Fontbonne 32-9 to take a 57-29 advantage at the break. In the second half, the Big Blue outscored Fontbonne 40-27 as they went on for the 41-point win.
