Women’s Basketball Selected Ninth in SLIAC Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University women's basketball team was selected to finish in the ninth spot in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, announced the conference office this Wednesday. 

"We have many newcomers this year that will learn and grow as the season goes on," stated Head Coach Michael Fitzgerald. "Ja'mise Bailey, Bri Beamer and Sam Foppe will have huge roles both on and off the court to bring this team together."

The Griffins received 22 votes.

The program finished last season with a 7-20 overall record and 6-12 record in conference play. Their season came to a close in the semi finals of the SLIAC tournament against Webster University after upsetting the number three seeded, Greenville University.

Fontbonne opens their season at home on Sunday, Nov. 17 versus Dominican. Their schedule features 23 games with 11 at home. They begin SLIAC play on Tuesday, Nov. 26, with a home game versus Principia.
