St. Louis, MO - In a heart-pounding conference showdown, the Griffins secured a 63-56 victory over the Blackburn Beavers.
Senior guard Ja'mise Bailey delivered a standout performance, notching a double-double with 30 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, dominating both ends of the floor. Bailey's relentless effort on the court proved to be the difference-maker.
"16 rebounds is surreal to me. I am really proud of myself honestly," Bailey said after the game. "This win really showed how far we have come as a team. We have faced a lot of adversity this season with having no recruiting class and adding players who have never played before. Love this team and all we have to do is keep working and getting better."
The Griffins (2-14, 2-9 conference) trailed by one point at half time but turned up the defensive intensity to claw their way back. Guard Brianna Beamer also played a key role, adding 13 points and dishing out three assists, while the team collectively held Blackburn to seven points in the final minutes.
With the win, the Griffins will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup at Spalding this Saturday, February 1. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
