Freshman Huelsing sets school record for women's golf
The Fontbonne University women's golf team opened up their fall season over the weekend competing in both the Knox Invite and Monmouth Invite. Day one at the Knox Invite, which was played at Soangetaha Golf Course, was postponed due to inclement weather. On day two the Griffins traveled Gibson Woods Golf Course in Monmouth, Illinois to participate in the Monmouth Fighting Scots Invitational.
Freshman Kaylee Huelsing (Newburgh, IN. / Reitz Memorial) paced the lady Griffins with a round of 91. Her one day total set the school record for lowest round in a one day multi-team tournament. She finished the meet in a tie for 24th place. There were 72 total golfers in the field.
Fellow freshman Brooke Stochl (Imperial, MO / Seckman) opened up her collegiate golf career firing a 121 which placed her in 66th place. Senior Kaitlyn Peter (Murphysboro, IL / Murphysboro) tallied a 135 to round out the Griffins scoring.
The women's golf team next travels to Jacksonville, Illinois this Wednesday, September 12th, to compete in the Illinois College Mid-Week Invite. The tournament will be played at the Links Golf Course. Action begins at 10am.
