Women's Golf adds five new members
Head women's golf coach Steve Schafer has announced that five student-athletes have made commitments to attend Fontbonne University and play golf for the Griffins. Coach Schafer will be adding four freshman and one junior college transfer to the program. The student-athletes come from Missouri, Illinois and Florida.
1) Gina Falvey – Freshman, Cape Coral, FL. / Oasis HS
One of the top junior golfers and high school golfers in Southwest Florida, Gina competed regularly in several Southwest Florida Junior Golf Association tournaments and had several victories and top 5 finishes. Falvey competed for the boy's team at Oasis HS and was tabbed All-Area her junior and senior year. She won three straight district championships and was a regional qualifier her senior year. She fired a one-day total 76 her senior season to win the district A-17 championship. Her low career round in tournament play is 74. Gina plans to major in Sports Management at Fontbonne.
"Gina is a great fit to Fontbonne and our women's golf team. She brings a winning attitude and leadership qualities that are invaluable to our program. I think Gina has a chance to do some special things on the golf course here at Fontbonne. Her relentless work-ethic will most definitely rub off on the other girls in our program. She is a huge addition!"
2) Mackenzie Griffin – Freshman, Osage Beach, MO. / Camdenton HS
One of the most decorated girl's golfer in Camdenton High School history, Griffin is a four-time state qualifier who won the Ozark Conference championship her junior year. She finished sixth in districts her senior year and posted a fourth place finish in sectionals this past year. Mackenzie finished 30th overall in the Missouri Class 2 State golf tournament as a senior, is a four year all-conference performer and has garnered several all-area honors during her high school career. Mackenzie plans to major in Fine Arts at Fontbonne.

She has a lot of talent, but most importantly, she is a hard worker and a proven winner. She has a chance to be a very special player at our level. I couldn't be more excited to have Mackenzie in the program."
3) Natalie Heck – Junior, Galesburg, IL. / Spoon River Community College
Natalie comes to Fontbonne University from Spoon River Community College where she was a two-year player. Heck was the top golfer for Spoon River over the past two years. Natalie attended Galesburg High School in Illinois where she was a two-year state qualifier. She was an all-conference performer her senior year and helped lead her team to two straight Western Big Six conference titles. Natalie plans to major in Dietetics at Fontbonne.
"I couldn't be happier to announce that Natalie Heck will be joining our golf family here at Fontbonne University. I started recruiting Natalie back in the fall of her sophomore year at Spoon River and felt she was a perfect fit the minute I met her. She has all the tools to be a big impact to our golf team. I am happy that she decided to become a Griffin."
4) Ellen Lindner – Freshman, St. Louis, MO. / Ursuline Academy
Ellen comes to Fontbonne after a very successful high school career at Ursuline Academy in St. Louis, Missouri. Linderer finished fourth in her district meet and placed fifteenth in sectionals this past fall. She finished 48th overall in the Missouri Class 2 State golf tournament her senior season. Ellen was an all-conference performer her senior year and is entering Fontbonne undecided on a major.
5) Mary Seise – Freshman, St. Louis, MO. / Ursuline Academy
Mary was a four-year member of the Ursuline girl's golf team. She helped her team to a second place finish in districts her senior year and a second place finish in sectionals. She posted top 20 finishes in both district and sectional play. Seise posted an 87th place finish in the Missouri Class 2 State golf tournament.
"Mary is a welcome addition to our golf team. She has a great attitude and works very hard. She will continue to grow as a player. Her best golf is ahead of her and I am happy that golf will continue to be played at Fontbonne."
