Men's Wrestling Competes At The North Central College Invite

NAPERVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University men's wrestling team returned to the mat today at the North Central College Invitational.
At 125, the Griffins saw both Jorduan Griffin and Kody Kretzer compete. Griffin dropped his first match against Brady Ester (Wabash) by technical fall, 18-1. On the consolation side, he faced Johnny Novak (Baldwin Wallace) and Novak won by fall at 1:57.
Kretzer, meanwhile, battled in his opener against Loren Semler (Carthage). After the first period Kretzer trailed 13-4, but dominated in the second owning a 12-3 advantage forcing overtime for the first time this year.
However, despite his efforts it was Semler earning a takedown for the 18-16 win. In his next contest against Justin Brown, Kretzer fell by fall, 16-1.
Daniel Bauer wrestled at 133 and fell by fall at 1:44 against David Panda (Baldwin Wallace). He squared off against Joshua Stephenson (Manchester) in his consolation match and Stephenson won by fall at 1:24.
At 149, the Griffins were represented by Joe Beck and he started his day with a 2-0 decision victory over Jack Thursby (Wabash). In his next match, though Beck fell by fall at 3:46 against Charlie Stuhl (Augusburg).
On the consolation side, Beck faced Justin Ritchie (Baldwin Wallace) and despite his efforts it was Ritchie winning by fall at 2:54.
Micah Dennis opened at 165 against Hunter Kupniewski (Baldwin Wallace) and Kupinewski came away with the fall victory. In his next contest, Dennis took on Zach Morgan (Manchester) with Morgan winning by fall at 1:31.
Up Next
The Griffins are back at home on December 16th when they'll take on Augustana. Action begins at 5 p.m.
