Jorduan Griffin Earns Eighth Place Finish At The Spartan Mat Classic

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind.—The Fontbonne University men's wrestling team returned to the mat today at the Spartan Mat Classic finishing in 15th place.
Jorduan Griffin competed at 125 and after a bye he fell by fall at 2:06 against Jaden Bird (Wabash). Kody Kretzer also wrestled at 125 and fell in his opener against Nicholas McClendon.
From there, the two teammates faced off on the consolation side with Griffin winning by pin at 0:39. Griffin went on to collect two medical forfeits and then faced off Donovan Ortiz (Ohio Wesleyan) who knocked off Griffin by fall allowing Griffin to finish in a career-best eighth place.
Daniel Bauer wrestled at 133 and dropped his first contest against Devan Johnson (Cornerstone) by fall. On the consolation side, Bauer met up with Josh Gibson (Heidelberg) and Gibson went on for the win by fall at 4:12.
At 149, the Griffins were represented by Bradyn Rawlins who fell by fall at 1:39 against Joey Miller (Wabash). In his next match, Rawlins faced Thade Radosa (Cornerstone) who defeated Rawlins by fall.
Joe Beck also competed in the weight class and won his opener by fall at 5:00 against Justin Ritchie (Baldwin Wallace). He then fell by major decision against Carter Winegardner (West Liberty). Against Cody Snook (Wabash) in his consolation match it was Snook winning by pin.
Micah Dennis started his day off with a pin victory over Thomas Brunty (Ohio Wesleyan). However, Dennis fell in his next match against Zac Samson (West Liberty) at 1:38 by fall. Dennis then faced Brett Goff (West Liberty) and it was Goff winning by pin.
