Men's Wrestling Competes At The Spartan Mat Classic

At 125, the Griffins had the duo of Daniel Bauer and Diego McCormick competing. Bauer dropped his first match by fall against Michael Tharpe. McCormick, meanwhile, took on Noah Cantu (Indianapolis) and Cantu won by fall.
In the consolation bracket, Bauer picked up a hard fought 10-9 decision win against Cole Renier (Heidelberg) after picking up a takedown in the third period for the victory. However, Bauer dropped his next match by technical fall against Trevor Hisey (Lourdes).
McCormick took on Ayden Sturtevant (Muskegon CC) in his consolation match and Sturtevant won by fall.
At 133, Kody Kretzer faced Brett Blaess (Baldwin Wallace) and Blaess won by technical fall. Kretzer then faced Iosef Nunez (Heidelberg) in the consolation bracket and dropped his match by technical fall.
Cameron Varner wrestled at 140 and was defeated by fall against Kyle Borthwell (Indiana Tech). He then faced Tyler Beckley (West Liberty) and Beckley won by sudden victory.
At 157, the Griffins had a trio of wrestlers in Harry Rodriguez, Joe Beck and Bradyn Rawlins compete. Rodriguez dropped his first match by technical fall against Tim Smith (Wabash). Beck was defeated by fall against Emmanuel Scordos (Baldwin Wallace), while Rawlins fell by fall against Tyson Nisley (Wabash).
In the consolation bracket, Rodriguez defeated Jordan Hodge (Wabash) by 7-4 decision. However, he was defeated by fall against Zach Wilson (Marian).
Beck dropped a tough 5-3 decision against Jacob Horsch (Heidelberg), while Rawlins was defeated by all against Bryan Richardson (Marian).
It was another busy weight class at 165 for Fontbonne with Connor Morin and Micah Dennis competing. Morin won his first match against Drake Egan (Indiana Tech) by a 12-6 decision. He faced Niko Christo (Lourdes) in his next match and Christo won by technical fall.
Dennis, meanwhile, won 13-0 by major decision over Noah Williamson (Ohio Northern). He fell by fall in his next contest against Tommy Mabry (Lourdes).
Morin kept his day going in the consolation bracket with a 9-3 decision win over Noah Williamson (Ohio Northern). Tyler Bodovetz (Ohio Wesleyan) halted Morin's momentum, though picking up the 16-0 technical fall win.
Dennis also kept the momentum going for Fontbonne winning by fall over Drake Egan (Indiana Tech). He continued to battle in his next match, but Cade Sousa (Huntingdon) fended off Dennis for the 15-9 decision victory.
At 184, Hassan Fofana fell by fall against Jack Minner (Defiance). He suffered another tough fall defeat against Jeffrey Tubbs (Huntingdon).
At 197, Jake Flowers was defeated by 7-2 decision against Alessandro Bruni (Ohio Wesleyan) and was unable to compete in his next match due to injury.
