St. Louis- Fontbonne University women's soccer team defeated the Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx last night 1-0. The Griffins are now 2-0 on the season.
Junior Meggin Werner (St. Louis, Mo./Mehlville) and sophomore Paige Pfankuch (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township) led the Griffins to their victory. Lindenwood-Belleville had control of the ball for much of the second half, outshooting Fontbonne 9-4. Werner saved four shot attempts during the game to give Fontbonne their second shutout in just as many games.
Pfankuch, the Griffins' long ball kicker, squeezed in a corner-kick goal during the six minute mark for the lone goal. Pfankuch now has two goals on the season.
The Griffins look to keep their unbeaten record as they travel to Illinois College for a 5pm start time on Tuesday, September 10th. Live stats and video can be viewed at the following link.
