The Fontbonne University women's soccer team won their second game in a row as they defeated Oakland City yesterday 2-0. The Griffins improved to 4-2-3 on the year.
Fontbonne got a goal in each half as senior Kelly Lange opened the scoring in the first half with her first goal of the season. Junior Kayla Thorpe assisted on Lange's goal. In the second half, this time Thorpe found the back of the net with her third goal of the season. Senior Erica Kaiping tallied the assist on Thorpe's goal.
Fontbonne defense did the rest as they held Oakland City scoreless for the Griffins fifth shutout of the season. The Griffins have allowed just four goals in nine games this season. Junior Meggin Werner picked up her fifth shutout of the season.
Fontbonne will return to action Saturday when they play Iowa Wesleyan University at 3 pm.
