St. Louis, Mo. - After a last minute change of venue, Fontbonne women's soccer battled a tough Aurora University squad as the game ended in a tie after 110 minutes of play.
In a chippy game, Fontbonne scored first when Meredith Wendt ducked the ball around Aurora's goalkeeper and notched her third goal of the year. The Griffins led 1-0 until Aurora's Kaitlin Im Hof scored her first goal of the evening in the 53rd minute.
Fontbonne's Jacey Pate answered with a goal from Leann Smith's pass that gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute. Im Hof tied the game in the 80th minute but both teams failed to score in both overtimes, even as the Griffins posted four shots in the second overtime.
Fontbonne has played three games in the last four days and with a shallow squad, the team will prepare for Stephens College on Thursday, Sept. 15th.
