Springfield, Mo. - Fontbonne women's soccer shutout the Evangel University today 2-0 after scoring once in each half. The Griffins are now 3-4-1 on the year and are set to open conference play this Saturday at Spalding University. The teams will meet on the pitch for a 2 p.m. Eastern start.
Senior goalkeeper Tayler Pulvirenti saved four in her second shutout of the season and her 16th career shutout. Pulvirenti is Fontbonne's all-time career shutout leader, after earning her 15th career shutout in the Griffins' first game of the season.
Senior Savannah Davis secured the game-winning goal in the 30th minute off an assist from Linsey Klein. This was Davis' first goal of the season and 11th career goal. Klein notched her second assist of the year.
Ellen Weaver connected with the back of the net for her second goal of the year in the 60th minute from a pass by Natalie Sipole. Sipole now has three assists this season.
The Griffins outshot Evangel 11-8. Each team received two corner kick opportunities.
