St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne women's soccer took down Iowa Wesleyan University today in an 11-0 victory to remain undefeated in conference play. The Griffins are 7-5-1 overall and look to keep their undefeated conference title in check on Saturday when they host Greenville College at 1 p.m.
The Griffins scored the game-winner just into the eighth minute of play as senior Heather Wiegmann sent in a pass to sophomore Maddie Tague. Scoring their first goals of the season were senior Natalie Sipole, junior Anna Whitaker, sophomore Hannah Andrzejewski and freshman Katie Sportsman.
Junior Meredith Wendt scored twice and notched one assist as Sipole and Whitaker added an assist of their own. Leading the pack was Andrzjewski with a goal and three assists. Ellen Weaver scored two goals in a row to give the Griffins a 3-0 lead and Casey Linsenbardt scored two in a row as well to close out the first half.
Fontbonne's chances outnumbered any of a single game this season with 43 shots.
Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Skaggs earned her first collegiate victory in the shutout.
