Wendt, Ellen Weaver, Redohl, Hussong And Whitaker Pick Up Postseason SLIAC Awards
ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the All-Conference Teams at the conclusion of the Championship game and women’s soccer had five recipients.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the All-Conference Teams at the conclusion of the Championship game and women's soccer had five recipients.
Meredith Wendt and Ellen Weaver were named to the First Team. Maddie Redohl collected Second Team honors, while Makayla Hussong was named to the Third Team. Anna Whitaker, meanwhile, earned the All-Sportsmanship award. Wendt, Weaver and Redohl were also named to the All-Tournament Team.
Wendt, a Troy, Illinois, native, picks up First Team Honors for the first time in her career after being named to the Second Team last season. The senior closed out the season with career-high marks in goals (16), assists (11) and points (43). She finishes out her tenure as a Griffin with 30 goals and 15 assists for 75 points.
Weaver's First Team accolade is the first of her career. She ended the 2017 season with five goals and a career-high eight assist for 18 points. In her three seasons with FBU, Weaver totaled 15 goals and 14 assists for 44 points in 55 games.
Redohl, a Fenton, Missouri, native, is back on the All-Conference Team for the first time since 2014. She led the defensive line that allowed just 30 goals on the season. In all, Redohl appeared in 74 games with Fontbonne, totaling 73 starts. She netted three goals and contributed two assists for eight points as well.
Hussong, meanwhile, picks up her first All-Conference award after appearing in 11 games, totaling 996:15 minutes, allowing just 18 goals and making 46 saves.
Whitaker, an East Alton, Illinois, native, finished with a career-high five assists on the year which pushes her career amount to one goal and six assists for eight points.
