Kovarik Nets Four Goals To Lead Griffins Past STLCOP

The Griffins (1-2), outshot STLCOP 38-2 in the outing. Kovarik, a Festus, Mo., native, ended the evening with a career-high four goals on seven shots. Caroline Neal had a strong game with two goals and an assist, while Emily Cardwell and Rebecca Bass each netted a goal.
Kayla Collie, meanwhile, surpassed her assist total from last year with a career-high three tonight. In net, Mary Beers earned the win.
In the first half, just nine minutes and 30 seconds in, Daniele Caruso passed the ball up for Kovarik and she did the rest, scoring past Kylee Lewis for the 1-0 lead. Kovarik struck again 27.0 seconds later on an unassisted goal, her third on the young season.
Then, nine minutes later, Kovarik received a through ball pass from Collie and she earned the hat-trick less than 19:00 minutes into the outing. Neal went on to score her first on the season prior to the half ending, giving the Griffins a commanding 4-0 lead.
In the second, the Griffins continued its offensive pressure, getting goals from Bass, Kovarik, Cardwell and Neal to make it an 8-0 final.
Fontbonne returns to the pitch this Friday night at home against Franklin. Kick-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
