In the first, the Griffins had a 7-3 shot advantage, though never found the back of the net to keep it a 0-0 game after 45:00 minutes of action.
In the second, Fontbonne had a great chance for goal on a header, but defender Isabel Peng kicked the ball away near the goal-line in the 55th minute.
The Griffins had another opportunity off a free-kick from Caruso near the 60th minute, however, it was Cradick being in the right spot to make the save.
Fontbonne continued its offensive pressure as the clock ticked away. Kovarik had quite a few scoring chances late, but Cradick came up big when needed and it was off to OT.
In OT, the Griffins kept pushing the offense up and eventually it paid off with a handball in the box, allowing Caruso to net her first collegiate game-winning goal.
The Griffins return to action at home on Saturday against Iowa Wesleyan. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m., on Senior Day.
