Fontbonne Sweeps Women's Soccer SLIAC Awards, 10 Named To All-Conference
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released its 2021 All-Conference Team today and the Fontbonne women’s soccer team filled up the All-Conference Team with Head Coach Dylan Cassidy, Molly Kovarik, and Mary Beers coming away with big awards. The Griffins had six players named to the First Team which is a SLIAC record.

LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released its 2021 All-Conference Team today and the Fontbonne women's soccer team filled up the All-Conference Team with Head Coach Dylan Cassidy, Molly Kovarik, and Mary Beers coming away with big awards. The Griffins had six players named to the First Team which is a SLIAC record.
Cassidy was named SLIAC Coach of the Year, Kovarik SLIAC Player of the Year, and Beers Defensive Player of the Year.
Krystal Kohenskey, Kovarik, Caitlyn Smith, Kierstyn Weaver, Claire Dalton, and Beers were named to the First Team. Caroline Neal and Alexandria Smith earned Second Team honors, while Riley Maag and Rylee Stafford were named to the Third Team. Neal also collected All-Sportsmanship honors.
Cassidy became the second coach in program history to win SLIAC Coach of the Year. Former head coach Brian Hoener won the award three times. Cassidy is the first to win the honor in his inaugural season. He guided the Griffins to an 11-0 record and 9-0 in conference play. The Griffins are the first team in program history to go unbeaten in conference play.
Kovarik, a Festus, Mo., native, is the first player in program history to be named SLIAC Player of the Year. It's her third time on the All-Conference First Team.
The senior forward has notched 10 goals and two assists for 22 points. In her career, she's up to 36 goals and nine assists for 81 points ranking fifth in goals at Fontbonne and tied for fourth in points.
Beers becomes the first player in program history to win SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year. The St. Louis, Mo., native, has had a season for the record books.
She's appeared in 11 games totaling 957:37 minutes played, allowed just one goal and made 15 saves to go along with her 11 wins and nine shutouts.
Her 0.09 goals against average are currently a single season record at Fontbonne and in the SLIAC. She's tied for first at Fontbonne with her nine shutouts, while setting a new single season record in the SLIAC surpassing Jessica Davis (Webster) who had seven in 2012. Beers' .938 save percentage currently sits atop the SLIAC single season record book.
Kohenskey made an immediate impact in her first season at Fontbonne totaling six goals and a team-high 13 assists for 25 points. She's tied for second at Fontbonne in assists for a single season and is one behind from tying the record in the SLIAC.
Caitlyn Smith earns First Team honors after being tied with Kohenskey with six goals and two assists for 14 points. The Fenton, Mo., native, recorded her first hat-trick at Fontbonne against Blackburn on April 19th.
Weaver, a Florissant, Mo, native, earns her first All-Conference First Team award. The senior has appeared in 11 games totaling five goals and one assist for 11 points.
Dalton, a Florissant, Mo, native, also is in the First Team for the first time in her career. The Florissant, Mo., native, has led the back line that's allowed just one goal this year. Offensively, she's set a new career-high with two goals coming against Blackburn on March 24h and Eureka on April 7th.
Neal, an O'Fallon, Mo., native, is back on the All-Conference Second Team for back-to-back seasons after posting five goals and two assists this year for 12 points. She's up to 23 goals on the season placing her ninth all-time at Fontbonne.
Smith, a Springfield, Ill., native, earns her second All-Conference award after being apart of one of the top defenses in the nation and scoring her first collegiate goal this year in a 2-0 win against Westminster on March 13th.
Maag, a St. Louis, Mo., native, has appeared in 11 games in her first season totaling two goals and two assists for six points.
Stafford, a Jackson, Mo., native, returns to the All-Conference Team after appearing in 10 games and making nine starts on the Griffins defense.
