SLIAC Women's Soccer Championship Preview: No. 1 Fontbonne vs. No. 2 Webster

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The No. 1 seeded Fontbonne University women's soccer team looks for its first SLIAC Championship since 1996 when they'll take on No. 2 Webster on Saturday. Kick-off at 4 p.m.

A Look At Fontbonne

• The Griffins are back in the SLIAC Championship for the second straight season after a 4-0 win over Spalding on Thursday.
• Molly Kovarik led scoring a hat-trick, while Libby Bateman added the other goal.
• Krystal Kohenskey finished with three assists giving her 13 on the year.
• Mary Beers earned shutout No. 23 in her career making two saves.
• Kovarik's goals were No. 20, 21, and 22 on the year putting her tied for third nationally.
• She's five points away from becoming the all-time leader and five goals away from setting the single season record in goals at Fontbonne.
• On the year, Kovarik leads with 22 goals and 47 points.
• Caroline Neal is second on the team with 10 goals, while Kohenskey's up to seven goals and 13 assists for 27 points.
• In net, Beers has nine shutouts and a .735 save percentage.
• This will be the third meeting in the SLIAC Championship between Webster and Fontbonne.
• Webster has won the last two times in 2016 (2-1) and 2017 (1-0).
• In the season series, the Griffins are 1-0-1 against the Gorloks winning 3-2 back on Sept 25^th and tying Webster 1-1 (2OT) on Oct. 13^th.

A Look At Webster

• The Gorloks are back in the SLIAC Championship after a 2-0 win over Greenville in the SLIAC Semifinals.
• Webster outshot the Panthers 12-3 getting goals from Mackenzie O'Neal and Isabella Dickneite.
• Since the tie against Fontbonne, the Gorloks are 7-0 and haven't allowed a goal during that stretch.
• They've scored 65 goals on the year led by Jordan Lande with 18, to go along with her six assists for 42 points.
• Mackenzie Sundhausen has nine goals and five assists for 23 points, while O'Neal is up to six goals and five assists for 17 points.
• In goal, the Gorloks are led by Taryn Banfield who has a 0.53 goals against average and a .853 save percentage.
