Women's Soccer Falls In Penalty Kicks Against Westminster
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women’s soccer team suffered a tough 3-2 penalty kick loss against Westminster in the SLIAC Semifinals on Thursday.

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's soccer team suffered a tough 3-2 penalty kick loss against Westminster in the SLIAC Semifinals on Thursday.
The Griffins held a 5-1 shot advantage early, but were unable to break through. The Blue Jays best scoring chance came in the 28th minute when Maddy Lawton's shot went off the cross bar and out of play.
After having a 9-3 shot advantage in the first half, the Griffins efforts paid off early in the second. In the 49th minute, Mia Patterson gave a lead pass for Caitlyn Smith who drove down the right side and scored to the far post over Megan Davidson for the 1-0 lead.
The Blue Jays answered, though in the 65th minute with Hannah Shylanski finding Annalise Beck in the box and she beat Mary Beers to the short side to tie the game.
Neither team was able to break the tie after 20:00 minutes of overtime and it was off to penalty-kicks. The Blue Jays had its first three shooters score and they were able to fend off Fontbonne for the win.
