Griffins Women’s Soccer Tabbed to Finish First in AMC Preseason Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University women's soccer team was picked to finish first in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the SLIAC conference office announced on Wednesday.
"We are excited for another season in the SLIAC," said Head Coach Dylan Cassidy. "It is great to receive recognition from fellow coaches in the conference and it's all down to the student-athletes that we have here that work so hard. It should be another tough and competitive season in the SLIAC, with new additions, and changes in the regular season schedule."
The Griffins totaled 75 points and a league-high of four first-places votes to go on the top of the ranking.
The team returns 17 athletes and welcome four newcomers.
Libby Bateman, Grace Bray, Alyson Carroll, Bianca Cortez-Perez, Katie Leeker, and Caitlyn Smith were named to the 2023 SLIAC Women's Soccer Preseason Watch List.
The Griffins begin regular season on Friday, Sept. 1 at University of Chicago.
