Jacksonville, Ill. - After a rough first set, the Griffins secured their second five-set victory in the week, defeating MacMurray College 3-2 last night. The win takes Fontbonne's record to 7-10 on the year and keeps their undefeated St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in-tact at 5-0.
Fontbonne took down the Highlanders 16-25, 25-18, 25-22, 16-25 and 15-10. Freshman Kristina Eason laid down 15 kills with Fontbonne's highest hitting average on the night (.268). Holly Richter tallied five kills on nine attempts while Kersten McDonough led the game with 21 kills.
Maddie Stadler and Mariana Rogers split the backfield with 21 and 20 digs respectively while Mandy DeWitt and Lynsey Wehrenberg set up the Griffins with 19 and 21 assists. Wehrenberg and Stadler each served up two aces.
Fontbonne travels to Eureka, Ill. Saturday for a SLIAC quad event. The Griffins play at 11am against Spalding and take on host Eureka at 1pm.
