Women's Volleyball Collects Season-High 18 Service Aces In Sweep Over Principia

ELSAH, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team snapped its four game slide with a sweep over Principia.

The Basics

Set 1: Fontbonne opened with a 9-2 lead on Kristen Kaempfe's service ace. However, the Panthers responded with an 8-1 run to tie things up at 10-10 on Paige Fowler's kill.

The two teams went point-for-point until Fontbonne started to pull away after it being tied 14-14. The Griffins went on a 4-0 run with three straight service aces giving them a 18-14 lead. That gave them enough breathing room to go on for the 25-18 victory.

Set 2: The Griffins opened with a commanding 12-4 lead on a kill from Lizzy Harvey. With Fontbonne totaling 11 kills and a .364 hitting percentage in the second set they were able to cruise to the 25-10 victory.

Fontbonne totaled six service aces in the set with four coming from Harvey. Jadyn Fitzgerald and Jackie Drury had three kills each.

Set 3: The Griffins used another fast start in the third taking a 10-3 lead on Hannah Gallagher's service ace. Fontbonne posted a match-high 15 kills in the set and added five more service aces which proved to be more than enough for the Griffins to go on for the 25-17 match win.

• The Griffins finished with 38 kills and a .215 hitting percentage which is its highest since Sept. 30^th when they hit .233 against Eureka.
• At the service line, the Griffins totaled a season-high 18 aces.
• Gallagher led with 10 kills, a .227 hitting percentage and eight digs.
• Jackie Drury finished with a career-high nine kills and .471 hitting percentage.
• Jadyn Fizgerald added seven kills.
• Harvey and Kristen Kaempfe totaled a match-high four service aces. Kelly Herr and Gallagher added three each.
• Ella Werner-Click totaled 22 assists.
• Savannah Silva and Fitzgerald tied with six digs each.
