Women's Volleyball Sweeps Season Series Over Eutectics

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team swept the season series over University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Wednesday night.

Set Notes

Set 1: The Griffins held the lead throughout until the Eutectics eventually tied it at 16-16. The two teams went point-for-point before the Griffins got kills from Hannah Gallagher and Jadyn Fitzgerald for the 26-24 win.

Fontbonne had 17 kills on 42 swings for a .262 hitting percentage in the first. Gallagher led with six, while Kristen Kaempfe had five.

Set 2: It was back-and-forth play to start the second until Fontbonne gathered a 16-13 lead. They stretched it out to 23-16 on consecutive kills from Kaempfe. From there, they fended off UHSP for the 25-22 win.

Another strong set for Fontbonne with 18 kills and a .231 hitting percentage. Kaempfe had 11 kills through two sets finishing with six in the second.

Set 3: In the third, the Eutectics took a 5-4 lead and never relinquished its advantage going on for the 25-20 victory. Fontbonne totaled 10 kills in the set and a .135 hitting percentage.

Set 4: Fontbonne grabbed a 9-8 lead on Gallagher's kill and expanded it out to 19-14. It was all Griffins the rest of the way going for the 25-17 set and match win.

Team Notes

• Fontbonne finished with a season-high 62 kills and .33 hitting percentage.
• Defensively, they came away with a season-high 84 digs.
