ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team earned a pair of wins to secure the first round of the SLIAC Tournament at home. The Griffins close regular season with a 16-8 overall record and 12-5 in league play.
Against Spalding, Senior Kristen Kaempfe not only reached 1,000 career kills but she also broke the school record for most aces in a season.
Before the MUW match, Head Coach Jimmy Stika and Director of Athletics Danielle Doerfler presented a ball to athletes Emma Harrop, Riley Watson, and Kristen Kaempfe for their achievements this season.
Earlier this season, Harrop reached 1,000 career digs, Watson recorded 1,000 career assists, while Kaempfe had 1,000 career kills a few days ago.
The set scores against Spalding were: 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15, 3-1.
- Riley Watson had a total of 43 assists.
- Emma Harrop recorded 20 digs.
- Kristen Kaempfe led the floor with a total of 24 points.
- Maura Oge recorded a double-double with points kills and 11 digs.
- Jordan Harpel had 14.5 while Maddie Bock totaled 11 digs.
The set scores against MUW were: 25-10, 25-20, 25-15, 3-0.
Riley Watson had 24 assists.
Emma Harrop had 14 digs.
Jordan Harpel led the floor with 17.5 points and five block assists.
Maura Oge added. 7.5 points.
Kristen Kaempfe had seven points and five digs.
Payton Siebert scored six points on the night including one solo block.
Maddie Bock recorded four service aces.
